Commercial 2025

Vercom International

For Vercom International, Casper Schwarz Architects designed a new commercial workplace that reflects the company’s international outlook and dedication to sustainability and operational excellence. Located in Alkmaar, this 2,000 m² project, completed in 2025, delivers a full interior design tailored to a dynamic commercial environment, where collaboration, focus, and adaptability are key. The challenge was to take this large, industrial space, which is attached to its warehouse, and to create a sense of warmth and belonging that inspires collaboration.
The brief called for an interior that could support a wide range of activities while remaining calm and structured. Rather than dividing the space into strictly separated functions, the design introduces a clear spatial hierarchy in which work areas, meeting spaces, and informal zones relate naturally to one another, following along a visual line created by a copper ceiling installation. This allows for efficient daily use while encouraging interaction and knowledge exchange across teams, while building the foundation for a future-proof operation.
The interior architecture is defined by a balance between robustness and refinement. Existing structural elements are respected and emphasized, while materials, colours, and detailing introduce warmth and a pleasant eclecticism.
Transparency and enclosure are carefully balanced, creating openness where collaboration is desired and privacy where concentration or confidentiality is required. This variation in opacity is generated through a careful consideration of reflections and recessed lighting, allowing the two to interact in a way that generates privacy without walling spaces off.
Workspaces are designed with clarity and ergonomics in mind, supporting long working hours without visual overload. Meeting rooms and shared spaces are integrated as an essential part of the working environment rather than as secondary additions. Informal areas provide moments of relief and connection, contributing to a varied yet coherent spatial experience throughout the building.
The resulting interior offers Vercom International a workplace that is both functional and expressive: a clear, confident environment that supports commercial performance while reinforcing identity and continuity within an international context.
