OLYX
Located in De Olifant in Amsterdam, Olyx’s new brokerage environment brings together precision, calm, and discretion within a highly expressive architectural framework. Casper Schwarz Architects was commissioned to deliver the full interior design for this 1,500 m² workplace, completed in 2025. The ambition was to create an interior that supports the intensity of brokerage work while offering clarity, focus, and a strong sense of community.
Brokerage environments are defined by pace, confidentiality, and constant interaction. Rather than defaulting to a purely functional layout, we developed a spatial concept that balances performance with comfort and flexibility. Spaces are clearly structured yet visually connected, allowing teams to work in close collaboration while maintaining control over privacy and acoustics. Circulation, sightlines, and transitions between spaces were carefully choreographed to support both efficiency and calm.
The architectural character of De Olifant provided a powerful starting point. Our goal, in order to give Olyx their own marker in the history of this building, was to balance the robustness and hard architectural lines of the building with an element of playfulness and comfort through its interiors. Industrial framing is softened through material choices and bespoke elements, creating an environment that feels composed rather than rigid. Transparency is used selectively, reinforcing openness where possible and discretion where required.
Workspaces are designed as calm, focused environments with a strong emphasis on ergonomics and visual order. Meeting rooms, breakout areas, and informal touch-down spaces are integrated as natural extensions of the workplace, supporting both short exchanges and longer strategic discussions. Throughout the project, lighting plays a key role in defining atmosphere, enhancing focus during trading hours while contributing to a balanced and comfortable working day.
The result is an interior that reflects Olyx’s position within the brokerage sector: confident, sharp, and understated. A workplace that enables high-performance work while offering a refined spatial experience—rooted in its architectural context and tailored precisely to the needs of its users.
